Time for bed to rest my queasy stomach. Before I go, though, here’s a few contour drawings I did.
Now, I sort of cheated here in that I was looking at the page a few times while drawing. My main reason for doing these is because I’m far too stiff and robotic when it comes to drawing the human figure, especially when it’s clothed, so this is my attempt to sort that out. I’ll be adding this to the 30 second drawings I’ve been doing as part of a daily artistic exercise/kick up the arse.
I think I’ve managed to give myself a mild dose of food poisoning. My stomach is none too pleased.
I’ve decided to get to work on a submission for the Power Drive B comic anthology and will do a new version of a strip I doodled some years back. It’ll be a sort of spoof/homage of Japanese properties such as Tetsujin 28/Gigantor and Astroboy. It will also have lots of gloriously over-the-top broken Engrish.
This thumbnail version is incredibly rough, having being knocked up in a few minutes, so there’ll be plenty of changes to be made before I go on to the final version. What you see here will be the first page of…a few; I’ve yet to decide on the exact number.
Irish comic person, Stephen Downey, posted a status on Facebook/Twitter mentioning how his girlfriend told him that he draws ‘nice bums.’
I ended up drawing this picture of him celebrating this news.
Also, here’s a not very flattering drawing I did of the (sadly) late Carl Sagan. Don’t know who Carl Sagan is? Then I’m jealous, as I’d love to discover his work for the first time all over again.
Triangapal requires disciples.
Another pic that I drew by hand and then imported the scanned lines into Procreate, allowing me to do a quick and messy colouring job on my iPad.
I decided to buy myself a stylus for my iPad yesterday and give drawing/colouring on the device a whirl. At first, it turned out terribly, due to using the ‘SketchbookX’ app, which is horribly laggy.
However, PJ Holden suggested that I should give ‘Procreate’ a go and, holy hell, was his advice ever sound! The difference is like night and day.
